Together Women

Born and raised in the heart of Yorkshire within a traditional Muslim household, I defied the odds from an early age. Growing up in an environment where education for women wasn't encouraged, I found myself fuelled by a relentless determination to carve my own path and strive for self-improvement. Leaving home at 18, I embarked on a journey dedicated to education and self-betterment. This journey led me to pursue a career in the criminal justice sector, eventually qualifying as a probation officer. Notably, I proudly hold the distinction of being the first Asian woman employed by the West Yorkshire Probation Service, a testament to my perseverance and dedication.Subsequently, my career path took me to London, where I found myself working for a charity specializing in supporting lifers reintegrating into society. It was during this time that my passion for advocating for marginalized communities, particularly women, became deeply ingrained within me.Transitioning to my current role as CEO and founder at TW, I discovered a platform to amplify my commitment to supporting women. At TW, we are not just an organization; we are a community united by a common purpose – to empower and uplift those affected by the criminal justice system. As CEO, I have the privilege of leading a dedicated team in our mission to effect meaningful change. Through innovative programs and initiatives, we strive to provide comprehensive support and resources to women navigating the complexities of the criminal justice system. My role as CEO allows me to merge my professional expertise with my passion for advocacy. I am deeply invested in fostering a culture of empowerment and inclusivity within TW, ensuring that every woman we support feels valued, heard, and supported. I firmly believe that by addressing the unique challenges faced by women in the criminal justice system, we can pave the way for lasting societal change.Outside of my professional endeavours, I find solace and joy in my personal life. As a proud mother to my 22-year-old son, our shared passion for Liverpool FC bonds us together, often leading us to the stands to cheer on our beloved team. Additionally, my love for cooking allows me to express my nurturing nature, finding immense satisfaction in cooking for family and friends. In essence, my journey is one of resilience, empowerment, and unwavering dedication to advocating for those who often find themselves marginalized and voiceless. Through my experiences and endeavour's, I strive to create a world where every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. At TW, we are not just changing lives; we are shaping futures, one woman at a time.
