Je-Nice Harris

The Black Criminology Network

I am Je-Nice ‘Jen’ Harris, and before anything else I am a young, ambitious, Black Woman, on a mission to be the best version of myself. I frequently use my knowledge for the betterment of many injustices I have the capacity to contend. I am also the proud Founder and Director of The Black Criminology Network CIC (2020) and The CrimiTalk CIC (2016). Both social enterprises were predicated on two different observations but aim to support those across the Criminology, Criminal Justice and Social Science landscapes. My ability to perform as a leader for both organisations emerged against the backdrop of my extensive time as what I now refer to as being a pracademic. With over just a decade of combined experience working and volunteering across The Criminal Justice spectrum and engaging in research across the academic arena, all primarily aligned with UK Policing and marginalised communities. I am currently conducting PhD research (Criminology) with a focus on Community Policing, Critical Race Theory and Black communities. The overarching intention is to utilise my academic skills to drive positive systemic change, convey the voices of marginalised communities and to contribute to the Criminology. Over the course of my professional and academic career, I have immersed myself in a range of extra-curricular activities such as engaging with the community; appearing on an episode of a True Crime documentary; being trusted by several organisations; presenting at conferences; advocating for those marginalised; and being multi-award decorated.
